Need Assistance Finding Coilovers (1993)

Post by swagon93 » Wed Mar 22, 2017 6:33 pm

Having an awful time figuring what all I need to lower my wagon. I only want 2 inches of low.
I don't want to spend an arm and a leg but I also want something somewhat reliable for at least a few years.
Wanting to really buy used, I have $250 for the project.

Anyone here that could quide me?

Thanks in advance.

Any coilovers you find for $250 are likely to be poor quality - which because this is your suspension, means dangerous. If you can't afford to pay for name brand coilovers, you should try to find a different way.

Eibach Pro-kit springs will drop your car by 1.0 to 1.5 inches and H&R sport springs by about 1.8". Both are less than $200 new and you can probably buy them used with reasonable confidence.

Problem, of course, is that your OEM struts won't work well with these springs and will likely blow out before long. For a stock or moderate drop, KYB or Koni STR.t will probably work OK. For a more aggressive drop the only way to go is Koni yellow.
