HOW TO QUESTION: Wiring 1996 EX Wagon for trailer

Postby Hoosier96EX » November 1st, 2016 06:51 PM

Any recommendations for a wiring harness adapter, or other suggestions?

I'm going to have a Curt hitch installed professionally but I want to install the wiring myself and save a few bucks.

I've done it. Most people use the flat 4-pin connector.

I don't remember how I identified the wires, but it wasn't difficult. Should be able to find with a search online. Instructions might even come with the 4-pin connector.

FWIW, I bought a "Tow Ready 118336 T-One Connector Assembly with Converter" through Amazon. Despite the claims, the adapter WOULD NOT pass through the existing holes and I wound up having them cut and splice it to run it correctly. It could have been installed without doing that by running it through the vent, but that would have held the flap open and would have compromised the waterproofing.
