Will a hitch interfere with the muffler?

Postby dangcookie » March 5th, 2016 04:55 PM

I'm considering the Curt hitch:

I've heard unspecific comments from wagon owners about the hitch rubbing against the muffler and generating noise. Can anyone who's experienced this give me a sense of how much noise to expect?

I would really appreciate it!

My 1997 wagon had a trailer hitch on it when I bought it, which did not interfere with the muffler. However, I have no idea what kind of hitch it was.

If your wagon is auto I would suggest you don't put a hitch on it. Unless you had so much fun replacing the tranny, you wanna do it again. Or you just wanna put a Seahawks logo in the hitch like 4x4 guys do.

Haha, go Seahawks! But seriously, I want to put a hitch on it in order to mount 3 bicycles on the back. Unless you foresee a problem with that? I just don't want to add any more noise to the car.

Oh that'd be fine (weight wise). I don't know about the rattles though. I don't use facebook, but you may try the accordwagonclub facebook and see if anyone knows what brands work with a stock muffler. I'm sure theres people on here that have the answers, they just aren't on very often. You might search the forum for trailer hitch rattle or something similar to see if there were any posts in the past.
