after reading topics on here for the last hour, i'm not sure what to do. My speedo and odometer doesn't work. one guy said that if my cruise control works then my VSS is ok. Cruise doesn't work, speedo doesn't work, odometer doesn't work, and i have no CEL. Has anyone had this same problem. its a 94 ex with 167k on it. what do i replace first? what do i do?

if your getting absolutely no reading from the speedo or cruise then i'd snag up a used VS from the junkyard and swap it out.

ok i'll do that. my next question is where is it and how do i get to it? i've read that it is on the tranny but when i look at a pic in a haynes book it looks like it by the throttle body, but i didn't see it there.

for a stock engine bay it can take a bit of time to really get to, mine is tucked so i can see straight to it. lol

this is a pic of what it looks like on a manual trans, it will still be in this general area for an automatic too i believe. if you remove your intake pipe and look below your throttle body you should see the top of it. the engine harness might be in the way but if you move things around you can get to it.

I dealt with this last year when I bought my wagon. I ended up doing both the VSS and the speedo but I think my case was very unique. Read all about it here:
