It's the equivalent of a birth certificate, but only for cars. Also be it known that you can find your vin # in a few other places other than just the window/dash plate.

that's a JDM VIN number.

CF2 = SiR

17 = 1997 Model

05262 = not sure. maybe serial number?

incorrect. a U.S. Market Honda Accord built in Japan will have the 1st 3 VIN digits be "JHM". the 1st 3 digits of the VIN indicate where the vehicle was built.

1st 3 Digits
1HG= Marysville, Ohio, United States
JHM = Sayama, Saitama, Japan

anyone else have a '10th Annivarsary' on thier wagon vin??? or any ideas as to why mine is? mines a 96, and i though the 10th anniversary was 97, but i double checked and thats what my vin says.

it has a 9 in the 8th spot, which designates 10th anniversary according to the decoder in the first post. but as far as i know the 10th anniversary was only offered in 97 on coupes and sedans. mine is plainly an ex and has ex badging on the body. the 10th ann. was like 1/2 way between an ex and an lx, had some of the options but not all of them.

you must have been right during the cutover but got built as an ex
